For the new customers and some of the regulars..

Just to spare you or your guest of a trip to the ATM , you'll have to know that both of the restaurants are CASH ONLY ,or the way one of the waiters likes to say it :"we like dead presidents!", with a little change in the Back Bay restaurant that do take checks...also...there's no reservations ,no valet parking ,no desserts in the North End restaurant...but you can make a reservation for the Back Bay restaurant , you can valet your car for 15 $ or you can have a coffee with dessert ...both restaurants do take-out the minute they open...
Regarding seating policy ...at the Northend location there's a first come-first served rule...usually one of the waiters will come outside and take a list with the number of people in the party and a name...at the Back Bay location, there's a host that will take care of the seating and take-out service at the same time,so please bear with him/her as the place gets busy at times ! We would really appreciate it if our guests will wait by the door until the host will be able to help them...For take-out just walk in to the bar area and the host will help you out with that as well...Hope everyone will have a nice experience!

  2. I dined here last week and the food was good, however I found that having the waitress watching my husband and I and standing over us while we ate made us uncomfortable. I like a good dining experience along with good food and pressuring patrons to eat and run is not a good practice.

  3. How far in advance can you make reservations? My boyfriend and I will be in Boston in August, 2011, and this is his favourite restaurant. I know it's early, but would love to reserve a table!!!

  4. You can make a reservation as far as our reservation book goes for... usually i think it's up to January of the next year,so you can call and reserve a table for that date in August at 617.536.5723.You can make reservations for the Southend (Back-Bay)location...

  6. One of the best meals I have had out in a long time. Service was wonderful! The food was beyond compare. Dinner for two, with a nice bottle of wine and appetizer for less than $70!! I was so delighted I left a 30 percent tip! No problem paying with cash... the ATM is right across the street. Another way they can keep the prices low and the quality high!

  7. Hi - awesome fusilli lobster meal this week - Lynn was our server and was fantastic! Favor to ask - I forgot to grab a receipt (since it was cash only threw me off) and need to expense it... any way to get a tab or other letterhead I can use for receipt?

  8. hi Brian! the only way to get a receipt is to call back the restaurant and ask when Rosemary (the manager)or Lynn will work and i am sure they will be able to help you.

  9. What is this the fucking 1980's with the no credit/debit bullshit? What a joke, hahah.

  10. I enjoyed the meal in the North End, the food is genuine Italian unlike some of the pretencous rubbish often found in the North End, The cash only rule is funny, managed to walk my meal off popping up to the B of A ATM, we will try the back bay resturant this weekend.

  11. Are the menu's comparable between locations? we love the north end location but it would be nice to make reservations...especially during the winter. i'm just worried it won't taste the same!! :)

    1. why don't you call and make a reservation for the southend location and let me know how did it tasted?

  12. Just in Boston last week-end and ate at the Northend. In one word...FABULOUS! Rosemary took these two guys from Seattle (myself and co-worker), sat us at the bar and gave us the full Giacomo's experience. Go. Eat. Experience. You won't be sorry...we're certainly headed back there the next time we're in town!

  14. Sorry...no party platters or catering ...sometimes they would do a large take-out order for people that host a party, but that is entirely decided by the management ...if you want more details ,a phone call will clear that out...ask for Richy and make sure it's a Monday, Thursday or Friday when you call

I'm hoping to come on Friday July 6th, party of 5, a bit of a reunion for my friends and I. If we show up around 9-9:30, how long should we expect the wait to be? I noticed that you close at 10:30 on Fridays, would we be at risk of not getting seated at all or pushed out early if we aren't seated until 10? Is it just the kitchen that closes at 10:30 or the entire restaurant?

    Thanks!

  16. Based on the closing time, I think you're referring to the northend location of Giacomo's ...usually weekend days are busy days for the restaurants ...it's hard to appreciate the wait time ...the northend restaurant has a first come-first served policy...best is to ask the person that handles the seating ...you could try to reserve a table at the southend restaurant, in change...food is solid...

  17. I'm heading to Boston with my 10 month old baby. He's well behaved in restaurants (and I would immediately leave if he started crying), but do you think it's best I just get take-out? I'd hate to arrive expecting a dine-in experience, only to be turned away.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You will not be turned away at all..
Both restaurants have highchairs and will accommodate your party as usual

  19. Hi,

I know you guys inherently do not take reservations in the North End and the South End will not sit more than a party of 8 but can you make an exception (at either location) for a graduation dinner?

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, the Northend will be out if the question ...the Southend might work out depending on the number of people in the party and how busy is that day...if it's a weekend day it will not be possible ...you can call and ask for Richard, our manager, to get more info on the matter

      Delete
    2. I took your advice and called the South End location and asked to speak to a manager. I introduced myself and explained what you told me above. I asked if they would be able to make an exception and sit more than 8 people for a graduation dinner next week. He rudely responded with "We don't make exceptions. You'd have to pay for our entire revenue for the night." He said this without even asking how many people I was looking to have, which is only 10, and didn't even ask which day of the week I was interested in. Thanks for the suggestion but I didn't appreciate his attitude or complete unwillingness to make it work, without even asking for a single detail.

    3. I am really sorry about your experience ...our general manager, Richard was not working tonight at the Southend location ...I can't speak for the management as I am not involved in the matter. Please if you will, call tomorrow and ask for Richard, but as I said it's harder to get in if it's a weekend day or we have the reservations book full...

  20. The valet at your South End location is clueless. When he showed up at the curb and asked for my keys, he said that you do not issue tickets. Fine, but why is this guy not wearing any ID like a shirt, pin, or something that would identify him as the valet?

So, I told him I would like to check inside before I hand over the keys. He says: "I'm not going to hurt you, sir." I head for the line to go inside and he drives off in the cars WITHOUT THE KEYS (we have a hybrid car that drives keyless). Needless to say, now I am really concerned, so I then going looking for the car as my family waits at our table. I find the car on the street unlocked, I lock it and ai head inside.

Soon your valet is inside asking me for his fee in a loud voice and when I tell him I want to talk to the manager, he starts yelling at me in front of all of the other patrons. I ask the waiter , but he says he will return "when I cool off".

Needless to say, we then left. This was a real shame for everyone involved

  21. Have posted to Tripadvisor, Zagat, Yelp, and Urbanspoon about the poor valet service at your South End location. Hope you take this seriously and make some changes before the city starts checking into the situation.

    ReplyDelete
  22. so, likely an obvious question, but I noticed two different locatiosn: Back Bay and the South End. What's the difference between the two?

    ReplyDelete
  23. There's a Northend and a Southend /Back Bay location ...the one in the Northend is right on the Freedom Trail, a pretty fast and touristy experience ...the Southend location is a more relaxed atmosphere ,with lots of regulars and artsy walls. There's more details at the top of this page...

  24. Typically, how long is the wait at the north end location on a tues. or wed early dinner?
